This 5 day Zanzibar honeymoon is designed around that idea. Stay in one carefully selected beach location in Kendwa, enjoy time together by the Indian Ocean, choose a private ocean experience, discover a little of Zanzibar’s culture and leave plenty of time with nothing planned.
Rather than moving between hotels simply to tick off different parts of Zanzibar, we use one well located beach base and bring the experiences to you where practical. That means less packing, fewer unnecessary transfers and more time enjoying your first days as a married couple.
Why We Plan This Honeymoon Differently
A honeymoon is not the time to see how many Zanzibar excursions you can fit into five days.
It is the time to enjoy the place, your accommodation and each other.
That is why we do not automatically split this short honeymoon between several hotels.
For four nights, we recommend choosing one beach location that suits the kind of honeymoon you want and staying there throughout your trip. Kendwa is particularly suitable for couples who want easy access to the sea and beautiful sunset views, while also having access to restaurants and activities nearby.
We then choose only a few experiences that genuinely add something to the holiday.
One memorable experience is better than three activities that leave you spending your honeymoon in a vehicle.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Zanzibar and Settle into Kendwa
Arrive in Zanzibar and meet your private driver at the airport or ferry terminal.
Travel to Kendwa and check into your honeymoon accommodation.
Then, do very little.
Take time to settle into your room, walk along the beach, enjoy a drink together or simply relax at the hotel.
There is no scheduled excursion today.
Your first evening is about arriving, slowing down and enjoying the fact that you are finally here.
Overnight: Kendwa
Day 2: A Slow Honeymoon Day
Wake up without an early morning departure.
Enjoy breakfast and spend most of the day together at your hotel and on Kendwa Beach.
Swim, relax by the pool, take a walk along the beach or simply enjoy having nowhere you need to be.
If you would like to add something special, this is a good day for an optional couples’ spa treatment, private beach dinner or photography session.
As the afternoon comes to an end, enjoy a private sunset dhow cruise.
Sailing along the coast as the sun goes down gives you a memorable experience without turning the entire day into a scheduled excursion.
Return to your hotel for a relaxed evening.
Overnight: Kendwa
Day 3: Private Mnemba Dolphins viewing & Snorkeling Tour
Today is your main adventure day.
After breakfast, enjoy a boat ride to Mnemba Area for a Dolphins Viewing & Snorkeling Tour.
The important part is that the experience is planned around the two of you rather than simply joining a large group because it is the most convenient option.
After returning to Kendwa, the rest of the afternoon is free.
You can return to the hotel, swim, relax or enjoy a late lunch together.
There is no evening excursion scheduled.
Overnight: Kendwa
Day 4: Stone Town and Spice Farm
Today, discover another side of Zanzibar.
After breakfast, travel towards Stone Town with a stop at a Spice Farm along the way.
Discover some of the spices and plants that have shaped Zanzibar’s food, trade and culture.
Continue to Stone Town for a relaxed guided walk through the historic streets.
Explore the old buildings, markets, waterfront and narrow streets with your guide before enjoying some free time for lunch, shopping or simply wandering together.
Later, return to Kendwa.
The evening is yours.
Have dinner at your hotel, choose a special restaurant or simply enjoy your final night by the beach.

Day 5: Departure
Depending on your departure time, you may have time for one last swim, a beach walk or a relaxed morning at the hotel.
Your private driver will then transfer you to Zanzibar Airport or the ferry terminal.
Your Zanzibar honeymoon comes to an end.
Why We Recommend Kendwa
Kendwa is a good fit for couples who want a classic beach honeymoon with easy swimming, white sand and sunset views. It also gives you access to activities around the northern coast without requiring you to stay in a busy area.
That makes it a practical base for a short honeymoon.
But Kendwa is not automatically right for every couple.
If your idea of romance is privacy, a quieter resort and spending most of your time at the property, we may recommend a different part of Zanzibar such as Matemwe or Michamvi instead.
If you want a more active atmosphere, restaurants and more things happening around you, Nungwi may suit you better.

Is this honeymoon itinerary suitable for couples coming directly from an international flight?
Yes. The first day is intentionally light, giving you time to reach your hotel, settle in and recover from the journey.
Why do you recommend staying in Kendwa for all four nights?
For a five day honeymoon, staying in one well chosen beach location avoids unnecessary packing and hotel changes. Kendwa also gives couples easy access to the sea and sunset experiences.
Can we stay in Nungwi instead?
Yes. Nungwi is a good alternative for couples who want more restaurants, activities and a livelier atmosphere. We can adjust the itinerary accordingly.
Can we stay in Nungwi for all four nights?
Yes. We can create a Nungwi based version, although some activities may involve longer transfers. We will advise you on whether changing accommodation makes sense based on what you want to see.
Can we stay somewhere quieter than Kendwa?
Yes. Couples who prioritise privacy and a quieter resort environment may prefer areas such as Matemwe or Michamvi. The trade-off can include stronger tidal changes and different swimming conditions, so we consider this before recommending accommodation
Can we customize the entire honeymoon?
Yes. Accommodation, location, activities, dining experiences, transport and the amount of free time can all be adjusted.
